I propose that Congress enact a law that would allow any taxpayer to designate that a percentage of the tax paid be directly applied to reducing the deficit. The percentage choices would be 20%, 15%, 10%, 5% or 0%.
This gives the taxpayer a meaningful participation in our government and provides a solution to an important problem.
