Columbia Pictures will re-release John Huston’s 1972 “Fat City” in one theater in New York (Bleecker Street Cinema) on Nov. 27 and in Los Angeles Dec. 4 (AMC Century 14). The yarn of down-and-out boxers stars Stacy Keach, Jeff Bridges and Susan Tyrrell. Although the film wasn’t a commercial hit when first released, it did reestablish Huston’s career when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. “Fat City” producer Ray Stark (“The Way We Were,” “Night of the Iguana” and countless others) told The Times, “It’s hard to choose a favorite from among the pictures that John and I did together, but I’m delighted that Columbia has decided to reopen this one.
