The New York State Racing and Wagering Board has received additional confirmation from a Cornell University laboratory that Lasix, a medication used to prevent hemorrhaging in horses’ lungs, was present in three horses trained by Peter Ferriola. Lasix is not allowed on race day in New York.
John Joyce, a steward, said a decision on Ferriola’s status would be made before Thursday.
Ferriola is the leading trainer for the fall thoroughbred meeting at Aqueduct.
