AIDS CASES ON RISE IN ORANGE COUNTY

As of Oct 30, 562 AIDS cases have been reported; 344 patients have died since statistics began being kept in 1981. In that same period, 220 cases of ARC (AIDS related complex) have been reported; 10 of those patients have died and 88 have been reclassified as having AIDS. The number of newly reported AIDS cases so far this year peaked in May with 29, dropped to 18 in September, then rose to 28 in October.
