Share

With a $10 pledge, California residents can sponsor a rose for one of two 55-foot-long flags on a Rose Parade float--”The Constitution: 200 Years of Communicating Liberty--” sponsored by the California Bicentennial Foundation for the Constitution.

One contributor--to be chosen in a lottery on the “The Big Spin” TV show Dec. 26--will ride on the float with astronaut Edwin E. (Buzz) Aldrin Jr. in the 1988 Tournament of Roses Parade, officials for the foundation said.

“We’re looking to get all people in California aware of the bicentennial and take part in it in some way,” said Ray Kabaker, vice president for communications for the foundation.

Every contributor will receive a commemorative pin, certificate of participation, a pocket-size copy of the Constitution and have his name printed on a scroll to be carried on the float.
