Local News in Brief : Special Election Slated
A special election in Redondo Beach has been tentatively scheduled for March 8 to fill the unexpired City Council term of Marcia Martin, who resigned effective Nov. 30.
Candidates may file nomination papers between Dec. 10 and Dec. 31, although the deadline may be extended one working day. District 3 is loosely bordered by Marshall Field Lane, 190th Street, Paulina Avenue and the Torrance and Hermosa Beach city lines.
The City Council is expected to formally schedule the election at its Dec. 1 meeting.
Martin, 36, said she resigned because she does not have the time to devote to the office since she became an Orange County sheriff’s deputy shortly after her reelection to the four-year position last March.
