Ruby Woodcock of Santa Monica, a retired teacher in the Santa Monica public schools, combined with Corinna Folkins of Mission Viejo to win the national open lawn bowling pairs recently in Irvine. Woodcock, the 1986 U.S. singles champion, also finished second in singles at the U.S. championships this year.

Dick Simon and Jim Splitt, both of Beverly Hills, and Jack Williams of San Diego won the triples lawn bowling title in the recent state championships. Simon and Splitt finished second in pairs at the U.S. championships.

Ron Engen, West Los Angeles College police captain, won four medals in the California Police Olympics at Stockton. Engen won a gold medal in arm wrestling, a silver in the long jump and bronzes in the triple jump and decathlon.

Golfers who shot recent holes in one at Los Angeles municipal courses included Rudy Corber of Beverly Hills at Rancho Park; Peggy Huber of Beverly Hills, June Carpenter Lord of Santa Monica, Jim Rimlinger of West Los Angeles and Alana Tomchin of Santa Monica, all at the Rancho nine-hole course, and Monk Herring of Santa Monica and Al Whyte of West Los Angeles, both at Penmar.
