Woman Killed in Crash as Vehicle Rolls Over
A 25-year-old San Diego woman died Thursday after she was thrown from a car and crushed on the ramp connecting Interstate 8 and Rosecrans Street, the California Highway Patrol and county coroner’s office reported.
Debra Lee Dempsey, who worked as a cashier at the University of San Diego, was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m. at UC San Diego Medical Center. The driver of the car, William Waller, 25, of San Diego, was in fair condition Thursday night.
CHP officers said the accident occurred when Waller, heading west on the connector, lost control of the vehicle about 4:15 p.m.
