Pirates Set Their Exhibition Schedule

The Pittsburgh Pirates will open their 33-game spring training exhibition schedule on March 4 when they play the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, Fla.

The Pirates will play 17 games at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Fla., their spring training base, including their Grapefruit League home opener on Sunday, March 6 against the Texas Rangers.

The Pirates close out their exhibition schedule on Sunday, April 3 against the Cleveland Indians at Nashville before beginning the National League season on April 5 at Philadelphia.

The Pirates’ regular season home opener will be Monday, April 11, also against the Phillies.

Pittsburgh will play split squad exhibition games on two dates, March 11 and 16. The Pirates play the Houston Astros in Bradenton and the Rangers in Port Charlotte on March 11 and the Toronto Blue Jays.
