CNW Corp.’s railroad subsidiary has agreed to pay $15 million to settle all claims against it in a 3-year-old federal antitrust lawsuit. The settlement by the Chicago and North Western Transportation Co. leaves claims pending against four other railroads named in the $940-million lawsuit--the Burlington Northern Railroad Co., the Union Pacific Railroad Co., the Missouri Pacific Railroad Co. and the Kansas City Southern Railway Co.--a CNW spokesman said. The lawsuit, filed in October, 1984, accused the railroads of violating antitrust laws in connection with a Texas company’s efforts to build a slurry pipeline from Wyoming to coal users in the Midwest.
