Share

An investigation into street prostitution in North Hollywood will continue following a two-night undercover operation that netted 34 arrests of men soliciting sex, Los Angeles police said Monday.

Lt. Steve Moede of the North Hollywood Division’s vice unit said a vice task force, which included two police officers posing as prostitutes in the 10800 block of Magnolia Boulevard near Riverton Avenue, made the misdemeanor arrests Thursday and Friday nights. He said that, following several complaints from local residents, the unit has been cracking down on prostitution in the area for about two months.

“It has been a problem for some time in that area,” Moede said. “It is probably the most active spot in North Hollywood. It is very conspicuous.”

Officers on Friday arrested two women on suspicion of interfering with a police investigation. Police said the two suspected prostitutes had repeatedly tried to warn customers driving along Magnolia Boulevard of the police undercover operation.
