Two drag-racing Corvettes went out of control in Torrance on Tuesday, killing one driver and injuring the other, police said.

Investigators said the autos were speeding in the 1800 block of Torrance Boulevard around 2 a.m. when a car driven by Timothy Lee Still, 21, of Torrance, jumped the center divider, rolled over and skidded about 500 feet. The other Corvette, driven by Antoinette Villariza, 26, of Lomita, hit a light pole, police said.

Still was thrown from his car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Villariza was treated for cuts and bruises on her legs at Bay Harbor Hospital in Harbor City and released, hospital officials said.
