A contract for Thomas Hearns to defend his World Boxing Council middleweight title against deposed champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler could be completed by the end of next week, Hearns’ manager said.

Emanuel Steward said the fight would likely be in either Atlantic City, N.J., or Las Vegas. He listed May 16 as a tentative date and said Hearns and Hagler could split as much as $20 million.
