Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Former Peace Corps Volunteers to Be Feted
Former Peace Corps volunteers are invited to attend a ceremony Dec. 6 honoring them as recipients of the 1987 Beyond War Award. The local ceremony will feature a live, closed-circuit, telecast by way of satellite of national ceremonies in San Francisco. It will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn, 611 Anton Blvd. in Costa Mesa.
Beyond War, a national, nonprofit group with 100 members in Orange County, is honoring the Peace Corps for its efforts to seek peace through humanitarian service and to promote understanding between the United States and developing nations.
Returned Peace Corps volunteers will be admitted free. Tickets are $12.50 for the public and $6 for students. For more information, call 650-1748.
