Five students and six custodial employees at San Diego State University were arrested Wednesday morning after they allegedly attempted to sell illegal drugs on campus to undercover city and university police officers, officials said.
The arrests came after university officials and detectives from the San Diego narcotics street team began working with a private security firm to investigate allegations of drug activity on the campus. The drugs included cocaine, methamphetamines and marijuana.
The 11 suspects were booked on suspicion of various charges of drug sales and narcotics possession.
The students were identified as Maverick A. Franks, 18, booked on suspicion of sale of cocaine; William John Makris, 18, suspicion of sale of marijuana; Steven Kreck, 18, suspicion of sale of marijuana; James F. Mulvihill, 18, suspicion of sale of marijuana, and Corey Salzman, 18, suspicion of sale of marijuana.
The employees were identified as Roxey Rae Walnum, 34, suspicion of sale of methamphetamines and the possession of methamphetamines; Jesse James Pearman, 39, suspicion of sale of methamphetamines and of sale of marijuana; Jess Delgado Juarez, 55, suspicion of sale or furnishing marijuana; Kevin H. Rice, 27, suspicion of sale of cocaine; Van Pelt Burt, 35, suspicion of sale of marijuana, and Donald Rudolph Childers, 34, suspicion of sale of a controlled substance.
