NBC has tried and failed with magazine shows more than a dozen times. Nevertheless, the network is pursuing plans for yet another in its attempt to unseat CBS’ longtime ratings champ “60 Minutes” in the early Sunday evening slot. Tentatively titled “90 Minutes,” NBC’s show will combine news and entertainment elements and be designed to shorten when football runs over into prime time. It’s still too early for details, but an NBC spokesman confirmed that “it’s something they are going to try,” perhaps as early as next year. The show’s name, the spokesman added, probably will be changed.
