Share

Police Chief Daryl F. Gates has ordered a disciplinary hearing for a captain accused of five counts of misconduct, including physical force on a female officer, officials said Friday.

Capt. Jerry Conner, 50, commander of the 77th Street station in South Los Angeles, is scheduled to appear before a Board of Rights on Dec. 1, said Cmdr. William Booth, department spokesman.

Three of the counts concern incidents on Aug. 18 involving Officer Patricia Ibarra, 24. Conner is accused of shoving Ibarra when she tried to stop him from taking a card she received with a bouquet of flowers.

A fourth count alleges that Conner provided false statements to an investigating sergeant, and the other accuses him of failing to investigate the alleged misconduct of one of his officers. Conner, a 24-year veteran of the department, has been on administrative leave. Ibarra has filed a $500,000 damage claim against Conner and transferred to another police division.
