“Walker,” the upcoming Alex Cox drama filmed in Nicaragua, will have a benefit premiere Dec. 2 for the victims of war . . . in El Salvador.

Proceeds from the event, to be held at the Monica 4-Plex at 8 p.m., will go to Medical Aid for El Salvador and the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador. L.A.-based, both groups aid victims of the civil war in El Salvador.

From Universal, “Walker” is about real-life American soldier of fortune William Walker (played by Ed Harris), who invaded Nicaragua in the 1850s. Cox and screenwriter Rudy Wurlitzer both see the current Reagan Administration support of the Contras in Nicaragua as a continuation of the kind of U.S. intervention recorded in “Walker.”
