Football equipment worth an estimated $6,000 was stolen from San Diego State’s Peterson Gym equipment room between noon Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, according to Steve Bartel, football equipment manager.
There are no suspects, according to campus police, who are still investigating.
All of quarterback Todd Santos’ equipment was taken, except his jersey, which was retired after the Aztecs’ 53-30 season-ending victory over New Mexico Saturday night.
Also stolen were 13 helmets valued at $120 each and custom shoulder pads valued at $550 that were used to protect wide receiver Patrick Rowe, who separated his shoulder before the season started.
