The World Bank and its affiliate, the International Development Assn., have approved loans totaling $350 million for drought relief in India, the bank said. India is struggling to overcome the effects of one of the worst droughts in this century, and the new loans would help finance urgently needed imports, the bank said. The money will be used to finance imports of oil seed, edible oils, pesticides, veterinary medicines, animal feed, petroleum products, non-ferrous metals and industrial components and spare parts.
