San Jose State’s Mike Perez, who averaged 309 yards a game in total offense the last two seasons, and Syracuse’s McPherson, will be opposing quarterbacks in the 63rd East-West Shrine game scheduled Jan. 16 at Stanford Stadium.
Perez and his top receiver, Guy Liggins, were among the first six players named to the West squad.
The others were running backs Kenny Jackson of San Jose and Brad Muster of Stanford, wide receiver Jeff James of Stanford and linebacker Ken Harvey of California.
