Hoping Undershirts Aren’t Overlooked
For her father-in-law, who is coming to visit for the holidays, Helen Doody of Westlake Village would like to find some sleeveless nylon undershirts ; evidently the item is not available on the East Coast. Can you help without taking the shirts off your backs, or will Doody have to keep wondering who out here might have a source up his sleeve?
Louis Mosher of Cathedral City is looking for a non-stretch men’s belt that is adjustable in length like a shoulder strap; it need not be made of leather. Can you help if you’re not too strapped for time, or will Mosher feel like taking a belt because he’s convinced we’re all giving him the cold shoulder?
Mabel Craig of Claremont would like a source for Belgian linen cross-stitch patterns and yarn used for making pillo w tops ; her previous source no longer provides that service. Can you help with some constructive pillow talk, or will Craig have to cross the Atlantic Ocean before she again can save a stitch in time?
Gene Chamberlin of Santa Barbara needs a repair service for his 50-year-old Mills Silents War Eagle slot machine (which is legal for home use in California). Can you light up Chamberlin’s board with a source, or will, to coin a phrase, all your efforts not be worth a plugged nickel?

Alice at (213) 458-1019 needs to replace some Corning Centura dishes in the April Tulip pattern , which has been discontinued by the factory; the need is for dinner plates, sandwich plates and bread-and-butter plates. Please help before Alice needs dental plates from gnashing her teeth out of frustration.

Things are looking up for Anita Mailberg of Bellflower, who was after an Up & Away bath enclosure. But if she had looked down, namely in the Los Angeles Times, she would have seen it advertised by Fabco, 809 18th St., Los Angeles, (213) 749-5244. (Fabco’s Al Grossman says they bought the item from the previous manufacturer.) Evelyn Landa of Van Nuys also suggested Fabco and said to ask for Harry. (Jean Short of Big Bear City and Lee Washabaugh of West Los Angeles said they had obtained the product from Unitspan, the previous owner.) Other places where such tub enclosures can be obtained are Snyder-Diamond (this information from Dave Kinchen and Linda Nyquist), the All-American Home Center in Downey, near Bellflower (from Juanita Collins of Norwalk), and Chandler Lumber Co. in Van Nuys (from Margaret Walsho of Van Nuys).
