Karpov Calls Timeout

SEVILLE, Spain —
Challenger Anatoly Karpov called a timeout to postpone the 18th game of his world chess championship match against titleholder Gary Kasparov today. Both players have now used two of their three allotted postponements for the course of the 10-week contest.
