The ‘Art’ of Exhibition
Hamilton’s article overlooked the existence and longevity of the New Beverly Cinema. This single-screen art house has steadfastly offered an uninterrupted stream of repertory and, oftentimes, wildly eclectic programming three times a week for the past 10 years.
Even as the Johnny-come-lately Cineplex Odeon and AMC Goliath umpteenplexes crowd each other, this small, unpretentious and congenial theater continues to quietly plug along successfully. To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of the death of the art house have been greatly exaggerated. Thank you, New Beverly Cinema.
