Two young men were arrested Friday on suspicion of pointing a fake pistol at a sheriff’s deputy and a California Highway Patrol officer in Malibu.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Torsney had stopped at noon to help an unidentified CHP officer who was assisting a motorist on the Pacific Coast Highway at Carbon Canyon Road, CHP Officer Van Mosley said.
A car driven by Kristofer Dekoff, 19, of Malibu, stopped alongside Torsney’s vehicle, and Dekoff’s passenger, Robert Wogen, 18, of New York, allegedly pointed the facsimile pistol at the officers, Mosley said.
The two then sped off, but were arrested a short distance away, Mosley said. Wogen and Dekoff were being held on $500 bail at the Malibu Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of violating a month-old county ordinance banning the brandishing of fake or toy guns.
