Republican presidential candidate Pat Robertson began receiving Secret Service protection today. The former television evangelist was concerned he might be a target of “more fanatic Arab groups” because of his pro-Israel views, spokesman Scott Hatch said.

Robertson became the third White House hopeful to be granted the government-financed security. Democrat Jesse Jackson sought early protection because of threats against him. George Bush, as vice president, is protected.
