Six-week-old Mitchell Boyd, a transplanted heart beating in his chest, was released from Loma Linda University Medical Center. “They expect him to live a normal and healthy life,” said hospital spokeswoman Ginger Brown. Parents Bob and Leigh Boyd of St. Alberta, Alberta, Canada, were greeted by news people as they left San Bernardino County hospital with the boy cradled in his mother’s arms. The Boyd family, which includes 5-year-old Jennifer, is living in nearby Redlands so doctors can monitor Mitchell’s progress. He was the 10th infant under 4 months of age to undergo a human heart transplant at the medical center.
