Howard University officials decided to call off their efforts to force the NCAA to include the predominantly black Washington school in the Division I-AA football playoffs this year and are instead concentrating on its $9-million lawsuit against the NCAA.
The NCAA on Monday rejected Howard’s proposal to expand the playoffs by four teams as a way of settling Howard’s suit over being excluded from the 16-team championship.
