Local News in Brief : Man Booked as Phony MD
A Long Beach man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual battery for allegedly posing as a doctor in the labor and delivery ward at Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach. “He actually walked in and treated at least one patient that we know of,” said Sgt. Terry Holland of the Long Beach Police Department.
Arrested late Tuesday was Randy Morey, 24, who listed his employer as the U.S. Navy.
Morey apparently entered the hospital sometime during the day, donned a surgeon’s smock, mask and gloves, and was seen on several floors before being confronted by a nurse in the recovery area of the maternity ward about 10:30 p.m., Holland said.
