Assessing the Presidential Candidates
My loyalty to the Republican Party is sorely tried. For almost 50 of my 70 years I have never descended from the elephant’s back; I hope at this late stage of the game I am not forced to do so.
In the best interests of the party, it would be prudent and proper were President Ronald Reagan, citing valid reasons of age and health, to resign. Vice President George Bush would have a scant year to correct the chaos in the executive branch of our government.
If Bush were able to accomplish this monumental miracle by next November, the possibility exists for Republican victory. If the “lame duck” continues to limp, a Democratic big win is inevitable.
