A Hacienda Heights physician and his brother were charged with murder Monday in the slaying and grisly dismemberment of the doctor’s 11-year-old son.

Dr. Khalid Parwez, 38, is scheduled to be arraigned in Municipal Court on Friday on one count of murder and a special allegation for the commission of an especially heinous crime. He was arrested last week and booked on suspicion of murder.

The charges stem from the death of his son, Raheel, whose dismembered body was found Nov. 17 in a garbage dumpster in the parking lot of an apartment complex where his uncle, Sattar Ahmad, 27, lived.

Ahmad, who was also charged with murder Monday, is still being sought by police.

Both could face the death penalty if the courts uphold the special allegation with which they are charged for the commission of a especially cruel and depraved crime.

Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner, in announcing the charges, said the murder of Raheel “cries out for imposition of the death penalty.”

“Although the California Supreme Court ruled in a previous case that this special allegation (for commission of a heinous crime) is unconstitutionally vague, the ruling is currently under review by the newly constituted Supreme Court,” he said.

“This was a cold, calculated and (systematic) killing involving a high degree of planning,” Reiner said.

“Some of the implements used to complete the crime were purchased five days before Raheel’s murder,” Reiner said.
