LOS ANGELES COUNTY IN THE YEAR 2010

The population of Los Angeles County will increase by 20% by the year 2010--to 9.9 million--according to a new report prepared by the county Department of Regional Planning, with the greatest growth predicted for the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. Over the same period, the number of housing units will increase by 22% and the number of jobs by 34%, the study says. The study was prepared for the county Board of Supervisors, which is considering zoning changes in the county’s general plan.
