Intruders broke into the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and killed one of its two bighorn sheep, then severed the animal’s head and a leg, officials said Monday.

Chris Helms, a museum spokesman, said that the killing Sunday may have been part of a satanic ritual.

The 6-year-old ram was owned by the state Department of Game and Fish, said Bill Rutan, a wildlife manager for that agency. The animal’s carcass was found in the bighorn enclosure at the museum.
