Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Residents’ Help Asked in Naming New Schools

Share

Residents have been asked to help name three new elementary schools to be built as part of a $200-million building program in the Santa Ana Unified School District.

Suggestions for naming the schools can be submitted to the district until the end of the month. A school board subcommittee will then narrow the list, with a final decision expected in February.

Names may be sent to Tony Dalessi, assistant superintendent of support services, at the district headquarters, 1405 French St.

Traditionally, the city’s schools are named for well-known people. One of the district’s newest schools was named Jose Andres Sepulveda, a prominent landowner in the county’s early days.

The expansion program includes construction of 10 elementary schools, a new high school and an additional continuation school.
