Report of Oil Spill at Port Incorrect
A report by Port of Los Angeles police of an oil spill Wednesday was incorrect, a port police spokesman said.
The spokesman said there was no spill during fueling of the container ship President Roosevelt by a Phoenix Marine barge, which took place late Monday night without incident. An oil slick was discovered near the President Roosevelt the following day, according to a report filed by port pollution investigator Walter Beckum, but it was not connected to the fueling and its source was not determined, port police said.
