Old Phone Books Exchanged for Trees : Phone Books Exchanged for Yule Trees
People who turn in five or more outdated telephone directories will be rewarded with a free baby Christmas trees.
Santa Monica’s recycling office, capping an 11-week campaign targetting phone books, will give out the trees through Tuesday at collection centers at 2411 Delaware Ave. and 10309 1/2 National Blvd., West Los Angeles.
United Yellow Pages and Ecolo-Haul, a recycling firm, are co-sponsoring the campaign.
The trees are suitable for outdoor planting, and are limited to one to person.
