A surprise appearance by Bruce Springsteen led an all-star lineup of 57 pop musicians in Sunday’s Madison Square Garden benefit concert, which raised $475,000 for New York’s homeless children. The money, said singer-songwriter and event organizer Paul Simon, will buy vans to transport the children to local hospitals for medical care. Other surprise guests: Yankee Don Mattingly and Met Ron Darling, who introduced Springsteen, and Bill Cosby and Whoopi Goldberg.
