Erburu Named ’88 Chairman of Fed in S.F.

Robert F. Erburu, chairman and chief executive of Los Angeles-based Times Mirror Co., has been named chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco for 1988. He succeeds Fred W. Andrew, partner in the firm Andrew & Williamson Sales Co., Bakersfield.

Carolyn S. Chambers, president and chief executive of Chambers Communications Corp. of Eugene, Ore., has been named deputy chairman.

Andrew leaves the board at year’s end. Cordell W. Hull, executive vice president of Bechtel Group Inc., takes Andrew’s place on the board. Hull, 54, also serves as vice chairman of Bechtel Eastern Power and Bechtel Western Power companies.

Erburu, 57, served as deputy chairman during his first year as a director in 1987. Chambers, 56, has served as a board member of the reserve bank’s Portland, Ore., branch and the San Francisco office since 1982.

Erburu, Chambers and Hull are Class C directors representing non-banking interests.

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco provides wholesale banking services to financial institutions in nine Western states.
