Southern California is twice blessed with the forthcoming (Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan) presidential libraries being located here.

Having followed the sagas of the Presidents’ problems in finding suitable locations, I can only say that those communities which rejected the libraries lost a real benefit.

I had the opportunity to visit the Carter Library in Atlanta this year. It was truly an exciting experience. No matter what your political persuasion, the opportunity to see the memorabilia of that President’s term in office, and to get an almost personal feel for his efforts and achievements was exciting.

For most of us, these libraries will be the closest we will come to being near a President. I hope that every child, and adult in Southern California will take advantage of these new educational resources.
