Just because a one-time porn queen is a member of Italy’s parliament, that doesn’t mean anything goes in the land of la dolce vita. The prospect of actress Kim Basinger doing a slow striptease on Italian TV during prime time Wednesday evening prompted widespread protests from parents who didn’t want their children to see it. The country’s Channel Five programmed “9 1/2 Weeks,” the sadomasochistic love story starring Basinger and Mickey Rourke, in an early evening slot. The screening attracted heavy media attention, with front-page newspaper articles about the controversy and advertisements inviting viewers to have “A Red Light Night.” The screening time was subsequently moved back one hour.
