UCLA is among 29 educational and cultural institutions throughout the country to be awarded special grants to improve the quality of humanities programs, the National Endowment for the Humanities announced. The university will receive $1 million.

NEH Chairman Lynne Cheney praised “the diverse group of schools, museums and other institutions” Tuesday for contributions to scholarly research, education and programs in the humanities. The combined endowment grants and matching funds will provide a total of $55.8 million in new financial support for work in the humanities, she said.
