The Dodgers have decided not to tender a contract to infielder Glenn Hoffman, making him a free agent. Hoffman, 29, hit .220 in 40 games with the Dodgers after being acquired from Boston Aug. 21.

Similarly, the Angels said that Stewart Cliburn, who compiled a 9-3 record and 2.09 earned-run average in 1985 before his career was derailed by a sore arm, will not be offered a contract.

As a rookie in 1985, Cliburn, who will turn 31 Saturday, emerged as one of the American League’s best middle relievers.

In 1986, however, a sore right shoulder and elbow--which led to several stints on the disabled list--relegated him to the minors. He pitched just 16 innings with Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League last year.
