2 Men Killed in Gunfight in Santa Clarita

Two men who had apparently been drinking together walked out of a bar in Santa Clarita and fatally shot each other moments later in an “old-fashioned shoot-out,” sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.

The reason for the gunfight late Friday night is not known, Deputy Bill Wehner said.

Witnesses said they heard gunfire after the men walked outside Trail’s Tavern on San Fernando Road around 11:30 p.m.

The two were found lying in the parking lot.

Geronimo Solis, 35, of Valencia was pronounced dead at the scene. Magdaleno Peralta, 24, of Newhall died early Saturday at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, the deputy said.

The bar’s owner, who asked not to be identified, said employees told her “there was no sign of anything wrong in here” as the men drank together for about an hour.

“There was not even an argument,” she said. “Both got a six-pack to go, went out the door and that was it--boom. “

She said the men were not regular customers at the tavern, a small bar-and-grill with a country music jukebox and two pool tables.
