Local News in Brief : Water Main Disruption
Recent variations in temperatures as well as old age were blamed for the break of a 30-year-old water main that sent thousands of gallons of water streaming down Beverly Glen Boulevard and temporarily cut off service to about 100 customers in the posh Beverly Glen area, the Department of Water and Power said. The break, which brought traffic to a near standstill, sent as much as 4,500 gallons of water per minute bubbling up through a sidewalk and cascading down a quarter-mile stretch of Beverly Glen, between Corfu and Quito lanes.
