Local News in Brief : Bomb Scare Stalls Traffic
Traffic stalled downtown near City Hall on Tuesday afternoon as members of the Los Angeles Police Bomb Squad shot a burst of water into a “suspicious-looking” package on a bus, RTD spokesman Gregory Davy said. The package, it turned out, contained cassette tapes.
Twenty-five passengers were evacuated from the bus near the corner of 2nd and Spring streets after the driver discovered the package, which had been left in the rear of the vehicle. Spring Street was shut down between 1st and 3rd streets for almost two hours.
