Kings Have No Defense for Failing to Build a Better Defensive Team

Jerry Crowe’s analysis of the Kings was right on target. Rogie Vachon, as general manager, has demonstrated absolutely no ability at his position. He may be the man to finally destroy hockey on the West Coast. Note all those empty seats, even those held by season ticket-holders, at every game.

For far too many years, the Kings have had no defense and no goaltending. Yet, the only corrective measures taken by the Kings’ organization is to trade away some of their better, and lucky, players.

Note their absolutely terrible league-worst penalty killing. Their strategy is to stand stock still and look mean at their opponent’s power-play unit. Every year, fine defensive oriented players and goaltenders are available for various reasons. Yet the Kings’ organization considers them “too expensive.” Compared to what? Costly losing?
