General Motors plans a private auto show beginning Jan. 5 at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel to showcase its strategy and try to enhance its image and take investor’s minds off sluggish car sales. GM invited 14,000 people, including mayors of 100 plant cities, financial analysts, dealers, suppliers, union officials and reporters to its three-day show. The affair follows a smaller party GM held in Washington, which earned favorable reactions from government officials.
