Local News in Brief : Cypress : Goal of $70,000 Set for American Awards

A $70,000 goal has been set for the 1988 Americana Awards, a fund-raising dinner for Cypress College, dinner chairman Don Karcher announced.

The annual awards dinner will be held Feb. 20 at the Disneyland Hotel. Tickets are $100 per person or $1,000 per table.

In announcing this year’s goal for the dinner, Karcher said he was beginning the campaign by buying the first table for $1,000.

Other officials in charge of this year’s Americana Awards dinner are Darrel Anderson, special gifts chairman; Stan Pawlowski, treasurer, and state Sen. John Seymour (R-Anaheim), honorary chairman.

During the dinner, awards will be given to county residents who have given “outstanding service to their communities.” Dinner reservations may be made by calling the Cypress College Foundation at (714) 826-2220, Ext. 131.
