Modelers Show Takes Wing in Pasadena Center

The International Modelers Show takes over the Pasadena Center this weekend, with 191 exhibitors ready to give a died-and-gone-to-heaven experience to all remote-control model hobbyists.

It’s a planes, trains and automobiles (and boats) show. Airplanes will fly to the ceiling of the auditorium. A pond will be set up for sailing radio-controlled boats. Car races (radio controlled) are scheduled on a continuous basis both days, with special soccer games planned for both days. And, for the first time in 11 years, there’ll be a display of trains.

In the crafts area, kids can make their own models using balsa wood and rubber bands. Most dealers will have models for sale (priced from $50 to several thousand dollars) or can refer spectators to local distributors.

The Pasadena Center is at 300 E. Green St. in Pasadena. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 7-12, and free for younger children; (818) 793-2122.
