A San Diego City Council committee gave preliminary approval to an ordinance that makes it illegal to deny housing, employment and government services to people diagnosed with or suspected of having AIDS. The ordinance goes to the full City Council for approval and, if passed, would become the second AIDS anti-discrimination measure in San Diego County. The first was approved Tuesday by the county’s Board of Supervisors, which passed the measure after hearing several emotional and poignant stories about AIDS victims and their acquaintances losing jobs.
